The Michigan Great Lakes International Draft Horse Show and
Pull extends a special invitation to you and your family to attend this year’s event. We are celebrating 32 years of demonstrating our commitment to equine-agriculture education and entertainment.
You will see some of the finest Belgians, Clydesdales, Shires, Percherons and Mules that have ever performed in an arena or in the field anywhere! You’ll note the elegant massiveness of these horses that weigh over a ton, as they compete in the hitch classes: the single horse hitch through the eight-horse hitch class.
Plan to grab a brats and barbecue dinner with us for this one-of-a-kind event.
These “big boys” will also demonstrate their raw power in the light and heavyweight pulling contests during which they pull a truck-mounted dynamometer. The “barnyard” horse pull offers exhibitors the opportunity to test their teams’ pulling power on a weighted sled. Winning teams are often determined by just inches.
If you’d like to see these heavy horses perform some of the tasks that they were bred for, we invite you to watch the plowing matches and field events. The plots are located on the East side of the MSU Pavilion and there is no admission charge. And, believe it or not, these “gentle giants” can be ridden, which our draft horse under English and Western Saddle classes will demonstrate.
In addition, our many commercial exhibits offer thousands of unique equine items that you may be looking for. The major breed associations will also be on hand to answer questions and to promote their breeds.
MGLI’s four-day show has something for everyone, so please bring the whole family and help us celebrate our 32nd birthday!
